Sports Injuries
Sports and other activities can lead to a variety of injuries, including:
- Fractures
- Contusions (bruises)
- Strains and sprains
- Cuts and burns and the resulting scars
- Overuse injuries (carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, tennis elbow)
- Plantar fasciitis and shin splints
Laser therapy (low intensity laser therapy) effectively heals damage from sports and overuse injuries, generally significantly reducing the time required for the healing process, particularly if treatment is started immediately after the injury is received. Your LILT therapist will also provide you with appropriate home care options (hydrotherapy and ultimately stretching and strengthening exercises). Massage along with the laser therapy enhances circulation and releases muscle tension, further improving the natural healing process. Massage also relieves muscle tension associated with compensating movements that result from avoiding use of the injured body part.
